Poor rating for government's efforts to fight air pollution

Close to half the people questioned in a Friends of the Earth telephone survey said they did not feel the government had done anything to combat air pollution. On a scale of zero to 10, 56 per cent ranked the administration’s performance in improving air quality at between zero and four. Just over 24 per cent gave a bare pass of five points. The green group urged the government to draw up a timetable for improving air quality and take prompt action to phase out old buses. The poll of 500 people was released as a three-month public consultation on air quality objectives ended yesterday…
